With the Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 announced and Redmi Pro launched a few weeks ago, the Redmi Note 3 Pro remains a compelling option especially its official price down to a few thousand. But aside from the price, what’s the difference on the new Redmi series to the previous Note 3 Pro? We put them in a specs and feature comparison to find out.

Pros and Cons of Xiaomi Redmi
Redmi Note 4 pros and cons
+ Deca-core Helio X20 CPU |
Redmi Pro pros and cons
+ up to Deca-core Helio X25 CPU |
Redmi Note 3 Pro pros and cons + Adreno 510 graphics |
– Base model with 16GB memory – Camera is 13MP – No USB Type-C port |
– MI UI 7.3 out of the box – Main sensor is 13MP |
– Design is dated – Android 5.1 Lollipop – Base model has 2GB RAM |
For internal hardware, the Redmi Pro is the most capable with its Helio X25 chipset though the base model will come with a deca-core Helio X20 the same as Redmi Note 4.
For price alone, the Redmi Note 3 Pro is still a champ with a Snapdragon 650 hexa-core processor and Adreno 510 graphics that’s second to the Adreno 530 on high-end Snapdragon 820 chipset.
The Redmi Note 4 this year brings a lot of improvement under the hood and a refined metal or aluminum design but still lacks our expected changes like the Type-C port and OLED display. We’re guessing Xiaomi will reserve this to the Pro versions.
Despite the dated software out of the box, the Redmi Note 3 Pro is still a compelling choice between the three.

Does the RMN4 really have fast charging? I just saw from the official Xiaomi website on the FAQ’s that this model does not support fast charging. Thanks
The adapter is high-amp and will provide faster battery charging compared to typical adapters esp. given that its battery is 4100mAh tho it’s not the same or as fast as on the Quick Charge or adaptive of Samsung.
The redmi pro supports it as do the others but you only get a standard 2a5v adapter for the wall socket in the box & have to buy a higher output 9v at 3or4amp rapid charger yourself for real rapid charge which most of the newer higher end mtk octa&deca core chips support. Pump express through usbc I think they call it? Can be seen on the mtk powered Meizus.htc & umi models. Just a way of saving the buyer money & cutting the original price by 20 or 30$ which is what all these almost flagship budget phones are about. Value & decent performance at affordable prices
What is the best smartphone of the 2 except for Redmi Pro, is it the RMN4 or RMN3Pro?? 🙂
If you own a Redmi Note 3, then it’s not worth upgrading to Redmi Note 4. Do check out my opinion
