The Xiaomi Redmi S2 has finally arrived! According to Xiaomi, the “S” in the device’s name refers to their new “Selfie Series”. The line-up was created for people who love taking selfies. During the event, the company also put great emphasis on the smartphone’s front camera.

The Xiaomi Redmi S2 features a 5.99″ display with an aspect ratio of 18:9 and a HD+ resolution of 1440 x 720. The rear of the device seems to be made of metal. The microUSB port is located underneath the phone along with the speakers. Meanwhile, its audio jack and is positioned at the top. The fingerprint scanner can be seen at the back of the phone.
Under the hood, the Redmi S2 is powered by the Snapdragon 625 along with 3/4GB of RAM and an internal storage of 32/64GB. The device is fueled by a 3,080mAh battery. It also contains Face Unlock and Bluetooth 4.2.
As for its camera setup, it sports 12MP + 5MP dual rear cameras with the features PDAF, LED flash, facial recognition, AI portrait mode, and HDR. The main highlight of the phone is its 16MP selfie camera with large 2μm pixels that aids in low light selfies. The company also uses AI to deliver picture-perfect selfies. There are two major AI modes, the AI portrait and AI beauty (makeup) mode.
The Xiaomi Redmi S2 arrived in the colors – Rose gold, Platinum silver, and Champagne gold. The device is priced depending on its variants. The 3GB + 32GB is retailed at the price of 999 Yuan (approx. Php 8,181) and the 4GB + 64GB is priced at 1299 Yuan (approx. Php 10,642). The smartphone will officially be available for purchase on May 17.
