Xiaomi launched the Mi 5C smartphone and it is powered by Xiaomi’s in-house chipset called Surge S1. According to rumors, Xiaom is working on the second generation of the Surge S1, which will be called the Surge S2. New leaks suggest that the alleged Surge S2 chipset at Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2018.
According to some rumors, Surge S2 that is based on TSMC’s 16nm manufacturing processor features an octa-core processor. Also, it is reported to feature four cores of Cortex A73 that clocks at 2.2 GHz and four cores of Cortex A53 that processes at 1.8 GHz.
Other features include Mali G71 MP8 graphics, UFS 2.1 storage, and LPDDR4 RAM. The leaked specifications suggest that the performance of the Huawei Kirin 960 will be at par with the second generation Xiaomi Surge chipset.
Xiaomi CEO Lei Jun stated that the company will continue to develop more chipsets in the future.
