Sony Xperia C5 Ultra vs OnePlus 2 – Ultimate Comparison Review, Camera, Benchmark, Speaker, PH Price

The Flagship wars continue, in this ultimate comparison review, as the amazing OnePlus 2 (priced at Php 20-21K) takes on the mighty Sony Xperia C5 Ultra (priced at Php 17-18K). Which of these flagships suits you better? Read further to check there battles.

Design

One thing to notice upon looking on the C5 Ultra, is its very thin and almost zero bezel space. It shows that Sony really maximized the C5 Ultra’s space wisely and minimized any unnecessary gaps on the phone, leaving the C5 ultra perfectly intact.  The C5 Ultra has a 75.9% screen-to-body ratio, while the OnePlus to has 73.3% STB ratio.

At the back of both phones are excellent forms of back covering, with the C5 Ultra’s glossy back cover and the OnePlus 2’s amazing and rough Sandstone-themed back cover. Both phones has metal framing on its sides, although, the C5 Ultra has polycarbonated corner bumpers, which serve as shock protection.

The C5 Ultra is 1.7mm thinner than the OnePlus 2 with measurements at 9.9mm for the OnePlus 2 and 8.2mm for the C5 Ultra, although the C5 Ultra is exceptionally heavier than the OnePlus 2, with the C5 Ultra, weighing in at 187g, while the OnePlus is at 175g. The C5 Ultra also has full physical buttons.

Display

Both phones deliver excellent quality in their respective FHD display screens, although, contrast on the OnePlus 2 is noticeably higher than of the C5 Ultra’s. The C5 Ultra also has a brighter display than the OnePlus 2, though both phones are deliver noteworthy viewing angles and sunlight legibility. Both are incredible in display, a few thing or two to notice, but, the OnePlus 2 and C5 Ultra was able to deliver high-caliber display quality.

Camera

Both OnePlus 2 and C5 Ultra deliver an excellent, sharp and color-accurate still image output. One thing to notice though is that C5 Ultra performs a bit better on low light/night images than OnePlus 2, in terms of image brightness and focus accuracy.

Still though, both phones were truly at par with one another and is excellent in delivering high-end still images, which puts them both in the winning circle.

For video, the two devices were able to deliver spot-on color accuracy and a wide dynamic shooting range.

Performance and benchmarks

The C5 Ultra and OnePlus 2 both sport a very up-to-date system, which gives both devices the power to deliver a great experience to their users. the C5 Ultra has an Android 5.1 Lollipop, while the OnePlus 2 sports an Android 5.0 Lollipop. The C5 Ultra is powered by a MediaTek 6752 octacore chipset, while the OnePlus packs a Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 chipset. The OnePlus 2 carries a bigger RAM capacity than the C5 Ultra, with the OnePlus 2’s 3GB or 4GB optional RAM capacity, in comparison to the C5 Ultra’s 2GB RAM capacity.

For the boot-up speed test conducted on both devices, the OnePlus 2 showcased a more faster loading time than the C5 Ultra, with the OnePlus 2 having a 40 seconds boot-up time, in comparison to the C5 Ultra’s 57 seconds boot-up time.

For the benchmark ratings, the OnePlus 2 was able to show its superiority, in terms of system performance, by beating the C5 Ultra in 2 out of 3 benchmark tests conducted. With the latter, able to par up with the OnePlus 2 at the last benchmark tests and was able get a tie with the OnePlus 2.

For the actual speed test conducted on the OnePlus 2 and C5 Ultra, OnePlus 2 maintained its system supremacy, against the C5 Ultra, by beating the latter, with just a fraction of a second, in terms of application boot-up time.

For the browsing speed test conducted, the OnePlus 2 sealed the deal and came out on top once again, with the latter, surpassing the C5 Ultra’s browsing loading time and delivered out the most efficient and quick browser loading time.

Speakers

The C5 Ultra’s speakers were a bit tinny and underpowered, in comparison to the clear and crisp sound quality that the OnePlus 2 was able to deliver. The OnePlus 2 was able to showcase a more clear and distinct audio output, which delivered a more satisfying sound experience.

The winner: OnePlus 2 for its crisp, clear and balanced audio quality and sound volume.

Price and conclusion

There are clear evidences that help in determining the strengths and weaknesses of both devices and its obvious that system-wise, the OnePlus 2 takes out the C5 Ultra, hands down, despite of this victory for the OnePlus 2, the C5 Ultra still showcased a few noteworthy features and traits, that should satisfy its users.

The OnePlus 2 and Sony Xperia C5 Ultra are available here in the Philippines for about Php 20-21K for the OnePlus 2’s 64GB variant and Php 17-18K for the dual-SIM variant of the Xperia C5 Ultra.
