Our review proved that OnePlus 2 is a true flagship with very attractive pricing in high-end category so far. But how does it stack up against the Asus Zenfone 2 ZE551ML 4GB RAM (available in all variants in Philippines) model? We made top 11 reasons why the OnePlus 2 is a better buy than the budget-flagship Zenfone 2.
More premium design materials on OnePlus 2
OnePlus 2 frame and buttons are made of magnesium alloy which adds sturdiness to the phone. In comparison, Zenfone 2 has metal finish removable back with tapered sides which is a step up too over budget flagships, however, OnePlus 2’s build is just better.
The back of OnePlus 2 is sandstone finish although you can swap it for kevlar or wood cases.
More compact as 5.5-inch device

The screen-to-body ratio of OnePlus 2 (73.3% vs 70.8%) is higher which means designer was able to used more area for screen, buttons and sensors on face of OnePlus 2. Higher STB ratio means more space are used while lower STB indicates more wasted space on the front.

Snapdragon 810 chip with octacore processor easily beats the Intel Atom 3580 chip with quadcore processor. In our benchmark tests, OnePlus 2 edges out over Zenfone 2 with its high scores and faster actual tasks handling.
Fingerprint sensor for added security and ease
The added fingerprint feature of OnePlus 2 gives ease while providing more secured access in the device. It is worth mentioning that OnePlus 2’s fingerprint sensor is useable even the phone is on sleep.
Tougher Gorilla Glass 4
Corning’s Gorilla Glass 4 is 2x tougher than the Glass 3 in terms of scratches and cracks protection. The Glass 4 could survived an accidental drop from 1 meter without breaking the display of the device. In short, OnePlus 2 offers tougher glass than Zenfone 2.
Laser auto focus
The laser assist focus paired on OnePlus 2 13MP camera makes focusing faster and easier even in direst lighting conditions.
Optical Image Stabilization
The OIS on OnePlus 2 ensures no more shaky or blurry photos and videos. The optical stabilization greatly reduces unwanted shakiness and improves still and video quality when shooting in hand-held.
4K UHD Video Recording
Thanks to the Snapdragon 810 chip, the max resolution on OnePlus 2’s video capability is up to 2160p or 4K UHD at 30fps. Zenfone 2’s 13MP PixelMaster camera could only do up to 1080p video recording.
Reversible Type-C USB Connector
OnePlus 2 is one of the first generation of smartphones/tablets (Nokia N1) to offer the USB type-c connector. Compare to microUSB type-b, type-C connector is more flexible because of the reversibility.
Brighter, clearer display of OnePlus 2
On our test we found that the Zenfone 2’s display is lagging behind the OnePlus’. The display quality on OnePlus 2 is top notch, screen is brighter and more clearer.
Despite the advantages of OnePlus 2, Asus Zenfone 2 ZE551ML remain a wise choice for those who are in budget because of its more affordable price. But that’s if you are willing to sacrifice for other key features and specs you will get when you buy the OnePlus 2.
