Dell XPS 13 and XPS 15 Gets an Upgrade; 6th Gen Intel Hardware and Thunderbolt 3 Connectors

Together with the announcement of Dell’s XPS 12, is the announcement of the XPS 13 and XPS 15’s upgrading. Both Dell’s XPS 13-incher and 15-incher laptop will get one heck of a massive boost, with both devices getting an upgrade of hardware, with them now carrying a 6th generation intel hardware, as well as a few new upgraded features. Lets go further, to see what are these changes on two of Dell’s iconic laptops.

Dell XPS 13 gets some killer upgrades

Lets start things off with the XPS 13, first and foremost, the XPS 13 is actually new, since it was just released earlier this year, however, Dell looks to up its performance capability by giving it a few upgraded arsenals, one of which is the Skylake upgrade for the XPS 13. Dell will offer Core i3- 6100U, up to Core i7-6600U to the XPS 13. However, this does mean that its GPU would be an Intel HD 520 model, so apparently, no Iris range option feature for the XPS 13, unfortunately. Memory options stay the same with its 4GB RAM, which goes up to 16GB of LPDDR3 memory.

Storage-wise though, it just happened to become more interesting with the XPS 13, because of a few transitionary moves that Dell did. The base 128GB model sticks to its SATA based SSD roots, however the major changes are on its 256GB, 512GB and 1TB models, which apparently are now on PCle versions. This are quite very interesting changes to the not-so-old XPS 13, it goes to show you, that a little bit of change, goes a long way. The latter also carries a Thunderbolt 3 Type-C connector, which is present to the XPS 12. This solidifies the strength that this evolution has done to the XPS 13, as a device of power and utility.

Dell XPS 15 gets a massive boost in its system

Similarly to the Dell XPS 13, the big brother Dell XPS 15 also gets the 6th gen intel upgrade, with it, now sporting a Core i3- 6100H, i5-6300HQ and i7-6700HQ, which is a very convincing leap from its usual arsenal. The XPS 15 is one of Dell’s well-established laptops that has since garnered many loyal patrons, which makes it already a contender in the market, theres a 32GB maximum capacity of DDR4 available on the device through its two SODIMM slots, and the XPS 15 now offers an excellent NVIDIA GTX 960M GPU, which makes the latter a beast in its own rights.

Dell is actually offering a 56Wh and a 84Wh battery and the larger battery on the 1080p version of the device is said to carry a 17 hour longevity rate, which is a big deal, if your priority in choosing a laptop is utility in battery longevity and prolonged use of the device. And like the XPS 13 and XPS 12, the XPS 15 now also supports Thunderbolt 3 Type – C connectors, which is something that the big laptop can use, for maximum utility in usage.
