Qualcomm’s newest processor, the Snapdragon 710, is the first chipset from the company’s Snapdragon 700 series. This chipset is said to be more powerful than the Snapdragon 660 that was mostly used for midrange phones.

The 700 series was announced back in February. According to the company, the chipset features double the AI performance that was seen on the Snapdragon 660. It also sports the X15 LTE modem and the Spectra 250 image processor. The X15 LTE modem is definitely faster than the X12 modem allowing up to 800 Mbps downloads as well as improved signal strength. The Snapdragon 710 is also the first chipset that includes playback of 4K HDR video outside of the company’s flagship offerings.

The chipset is made up of 10nm architecture. Compared to the Snapdragon 660, its power consumption was also decreased. According to Qualcomm, the 710 chipset is promising an overall 20 percent performance boost over the Snapdragon 660.

The Snapdragon 710 chipset’s main target would have to be midrange phones that have been all the rage nowadays. With the creation of this chip, offering budget-friendly smartphones with powerful specs might be possible. Qualcomm have stated that they will be launching the Snapdragon 710 this year, 2018.
