It’s been three years since Vivo launched its Nex initiative. Yearly, the Nex lineup introduces a new approach to smartphone design. While it doesn’t end up on the mainstream market, a few select markets are lucky enough to have a glimpse of the possible future of smartphones. For the third iteration, Vivo Nex 3 goes for an uninterrupted all-screen and button-less design. And we were lucky enough to be provided with a unit of our own, this is our Vivo Nex 3 Unboxing.

The box of Vivo Nex 3 is clad in black and has a larger footprint than most smartphone retail boxes that we’ve seen in the past recent years. Upfront is the moniker on top of the circular camera module that’s also one of the highlights of the device.

As we open the box, you have a quick start guide and warranty card that you rarely read. Furthermore, there’s a free pair of earphones, a SIM ejector tool, a charging brick with a USB Type-C cord that supports 22.5W flash charging, and a thin black case that we prefer over bundled silicone cases. It helps keep the device thin and light while giving decent protection against scratches and accidental bumps.

Last but not least is the Nex 3 itself. The color that we have here is the Glowing Night version which is the only color that you can get when ordering via Vivo’s website. There’s also one configuration — the 4G model that comes with 8GB RAM and 128GB of internal storage. Make no mistake, this is still the same phone that features nearly bezel-less screen.

Speaking of, the Vivo Nex 3 highlights what most consumers want from a smartphone — a large, uninterrupted display. In this case, we’re looking at a Waterfall FullView display that stretches the screen to the sides for a 99.6% screen-to-body ratio. With no buttons to use, you need to rely on Touch Sense and Haptic feedback to control the volume and power options. On the back is a new camera design that’s made to house multiple large lenses, Vivo likes to call it Lunar Ring Camera System. It packs three sensors — a 64MP, a 13MP telephoto, and another 13MP for ultrawide. Completing the party is a 16MP pop-up camera on top. The motorized camera is significantly larger than what we’re used to, but that’s because of the added selfie soft light and speakers.

This is just a quick unboxing of Vivo Nex 3, so let us know if you want to see a full review on this one. Vivo has made the phone available in the Philippines for a price of P39,999. If you’re interested, feel free to visit its website.
