Remember, there are different low-light situations and it’s not every time that you’ll totally be out of light. Make sure to use any other light source you have as a way to brighten up the shot. You can use it as either background or something that you yourself can use as a source of light, by standing closer to it. Either way, you use it, any light source small or big can be useful.

Learn to stabilize yourself

Shooting in low light can be really tricky, you should learn when and where to shot, know the right angle to shot and maximize the subject’s exposure, however, most of the time, the shot relies on the photographer. Learn to adjust your shooting stability to the dark, know when and where would the right angle be in shooting, so we can perfectly align a good shot. It’s not gonna be easy, but a couple of pre-empted shots could give you a heads up on the right position.

Study your autofocus

Your phone’s autofocus system is at its most sensitive in the dark, so it’ll be really troublesome for you to shot a clear one with haste. It’s always good to take your time and analyze the frame, because not only that the autofocus is a bit wonky at times like this, but it’s always hard to notice if a frame is blurred or not, thanks to the low-lit area.

Know when to use your flash or your light source

When shooting in low light, you’ll eventually realize that flash on shots is all the way, however, know that flashes and the only light source you have donen’t mix. Your shot will eventually be overexposed if you use your place at a wrong time and try to mix em up with the only light source you have. Try to know when to use a flash, sometimes if the area is totally pitch black, its okay to use the phone’s flash, however, if they’re other sources of light, make sure to maximize that instead.

Watch your own shadows

Sometimes your own shadows can ruin an otherwise perfect shot. Know that a light source behind you could forward a shadow that could block certain points of the photo. Make sure to know that the light source you have won’t generated a shadow of yourself that would be troublesome for the shot.

Try to adjust to lower resolution if necessary

When shooting in low-light using a smartphone, some bloggers often minimized their resolution. This way, you can generate a lighter image output and an output that can be easily processed. Thanks to this technique, they can lessen the detail in the extent of the efficiency of the image sensor and processor, which maximizes the shooting capability of the handsets in low-light. It’s best to keep the resolution at a low pace in low-lit situations, especially if you’re going to print out the output or upload them through social media.
