Selfie cameras have been one of the main features consumers look at before buying a smartphone. Since almost everyone loves taking selfies, smartphone manufacturers have been improving the quality of their front snappers and keep on adding features to make taking selfies more fun.

Here are some of midrange smartphones with great selfie cameras that were launched this year.

The OPPO F7 features a glossy glass rear and impressive 19:9 full screen design. The newest Selfie Expert from OPPO comes in Super Full Screen LTPS IPS TFT display of 6.23 inches and has a  screen resolution of 2280 x 1080 pixels and delivers a screen-to-body ratio of 88 percent.

In the camera department, it features Smart AI recognition that is present on the front camera. It can scan more than 296 facial spots which includes key parts like T-zone, U-zone and eyes to capture amazing selfie shots. In addition, it even enhances other areas like neck and arms.

The Oppo F7 is powered by 2 GHz MediaTek Helio P60 octa-core processor, coupled with 4 GB of RAM and 64 GB internal storage or 6GB of RAM and 128GB internal storage variant. It is fueled by a  3,400mAh battery pack.

The OPPO F7 Youth features a 6-inch with a resolution of 2160 x 1080, 18:9 aspect ratio Full HD+ LTPS IPS display. It is powered by MediaTek octa-core Helio P60 processor and ARM Mali-G72 MP3 GPU, paired with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage.

Going to the optics, it has a 13-megapixel rear camera with f/1.8 aperture, PDAF, and LED flash. For taking selfies, it comes with an 8MP selfie snapper with AI Beautification. It runs on Android Oreo with ColorOS 5.0 UI and has a battery pack of 3400 mAh.

Huawei Nova 2 Lite

The Nova 2 Lite features a 5.99-inch FullView display with 2.5D curved glass panels. In the camera department, it comes with 13MP+2MP rear cameras that can capture photos with bokeh effect. For the selfie snapper, it features an 8MP sensor with F2.0 aperture. It also has amazing selfie features such as Selfie Toning Flash, beautification mode, and AR lens.

Same with the Nova 2i, the Lite also features Face Unlock and a fingerprint sensor which is located on the back portion of the phone. The Nova 2i Lite comes with 3GB of RAM, a Qualcomm chipset and EMUI based on Android 8.0 Oreo, and a 3000mAh battery pack.

Huawei P20 Lite sports a 5.84-inches HUAWEI FullView with the resolution of 2280 x 1080 FHD+. It is powered by HiSilicon Kirin 659 that runs on Android 8.0 (Oreo) with 4GB RAM and 64GB internal storage. Though it is lightweight, it is packed with 3000mAh battery.

It is equipped with a dual rear cam with 16-megapixels and 2-megapixels f/2.2 for aperture and 16-megapixels for the front camera with f/2.0 aperture.

Xiaomi Redmi Note 5

The Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 features a 5.99-inch Full HD+ IPS display. It is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 636 chipset coupled with 3GB/4GB/6GB RAM and 64GB internal storage which is also expandable up to 128GB via microSD. It runs on Android Nougat with MIUI 9.

It comes with a 12MP f/1.9 and 5MP f/2.0 rear cameras with LED Flash and a 13MP front camera. It also packs a 4000mAh battery.

The Xiaomi Redmi S2 features a 5.99″ display with an aspect ratio of 18:9 and a HD+ resolution of 1440 x 720. The rear of the device seems to be made of metal. The microUSB port is located underneath the phone along with the speakers. Meanwhile, its audio jack and is positioned at the top. The fingerprint scanner can be seen at the back of the phone.

As for its camera setup, it sports 12MP + 5MP dual rear cameras with the features PDAF, LED flash, facial recognition, AI portrait mode, and HDR. The main highlight of the phone is its 16MP selfie camera with large 2μm pixels that aids in low light selfies. The company also uses AI to deliver picture-perfect selfies. There are two major AI modes, the AI portrait and AI beauty (makeup) mode.
